Bimbo Manuel

Bimbo Manuel is an award-winning actor, writer, voice-over artist, and content developer, who started his life in entertainment as a broadcaster with the Ogun State Television (OGTV), as a duty continuity announcer, newscaster, and show host. One of the most respected names in the Nigerian entertainment space today, he has remained a relevant and preferred act in his more than forty years of practice, accumulating some forty-eight awards, commendations, and nominations. An enthusiastic playwright, columnist, and aspiring novelist, Bimbo has very quickly built a rich library of works including ‘Philomena: Interview with a Prostitute’, a journey into the realities of a village girl turned prostitute (stage); and ‘1960: A Factional Tale of Nigeria's March to Independence’ (stage). His commissioned feature, ‘Esohe’, released in January 2018, won the Best Screenplay award at the Nollywood Travelling Festival in Toronto. ‘Pasito Deinde’ (home video), ‘Kanyinsola’ (home video), and several short films and playlets, are among his constantly growing body of works. His latest works, ‘The Call’ and ‘I, President’, are awaiting publication. Bimbo Manuel maintained the ‘Random Notions’, a satirical sociopolitical column in the Saturday Independent for four years, and ‘Chapters’ and ‘Musings’, a series of opinion columns for ‘The Crest Online’. He has been a major player in Bolanle Austen-Peters’ ‘Moremi’, ‘Wakaa the Musical’, ‘Full Circle’ and ‘Saro the Musical’ theatrical phenomena and was one-half of the immensely popular Saturday breakfast show on LTV, ‘Bimbo Sola Connect’, for seven years.
